Renting
Renting an apartment or house in San José proper starts at about US$300 per month and moves up according to accommodations and location. Many apartments will come furnished, but those that are unfurnished might require, along with furniture, a refrigerator or stove. Upscale neighborhoods, such as Escazú and Rohrmoser, where rent ranges from US$1000 to US$5500, are generally on the west side of San José. More affordable housing can be found by the university on the east side of town. Rental property along the beaches of Flamingo or Tamarindo may go for about $1200 a week for a three-bedroom house. You can expect to pay a little more if there is a pool.
